Environmental Health Officer- Consumer Protection

MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit an environmental health officer on a temporary contract (3 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate - £20.72 + benefits.

The Role:

• Deliver an effective, customer-focused Environmental Health and Consumer Protection service, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and legislative requirements.

• Inspect commercial premises and trading activities to ensure fair trading, accurate product descriptions, and compliance with consumer protection and safety legislation.

• Investigate complaints, product safety issues, and trading malpractices; take appropriate enforcement action and provide clear advice to businesses and consumers.

• Conduct sampling, test purchases, and inspections of goods and services; analyse results and recommend interventions to safeguard public health and consumer rights.

• Maintain detailed records, reports, and statutory returns, supporting transparency, Freedom of Information requests, and departmental performance reporting.

• Support service development by contributing to public awareness initiatives, mentoring colleagues, and engaging in ongoing professional development in consumer protection and environmental health.

The Person:

• Relevant degree qualification and placement experience.

• Full current drivers license.
