Environmental Health Officer- Food

MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit an environmental health officer on a long term temporary contract (12 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate - £20.72 + benefits.

The Role:

• Deliver an effective, customer-focused Environmental Health service with a strong emphasis on food safety, ensuring compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.

• Inspect food businesses and premises, assess hygiene standards, investigate food complaints and poisoning incidents, and take enforcement action under food safety legislation.

• Provide expert advice, guidance, and training to food business operators, the public, and other agencies on food hygiene, safety management, and best practice.

• Conduct sampling, test purchases, and audits of food, water, and other materials; interpret results and recommend appropriate interventions or enforcement.

• Maintain accurate records, reports, and statutory returns, contributing to Freedom of Information responses, funding bids, and service performance monitoring.

• Support departmental objectives by participating in emergency food incident responses, mentoring trainees, and engaging in ongoing professional development in food safety and environmental health.

The Person:

• Relevant degree qualification and placement experience.

• Full current drivers license.
