HR Assistant - Derry

We're partnering with a well-known, local organisation based in Derry to recruit a full-time HR Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with junior HR experience who wants to develop further within a fast-moving, supportive, and people-focused team.

The Role

As HR Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting the HR Manager and wider leadership team across all aspects of the employee journey. From recruitment and onboarding to employee data management and process improvement, you'll ensure the HR function operates efficiently and in line with company standards. This role offers excellent visibility across the business and the chance to grow into a broader HR role over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver day-to-day administrative and coordination support across all HR functions, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality at all times
  • Assist with end-to-end recruitment - posting vacancies, arranging interviews, and liaising with candidates and hiring managers
  • Oversee onboarding processes including contracts, pre-employment checks, and induction documentation
  • Maintain and update HR records, systems, and databases, ensuring data integrity and compliance with GDPR requirements
  • Prepare and issue HR correspondence such as letters, forms, and reports as needed
  • Support performance management activities, probation reviews, and employee relations meetings by taking minutes and preparing documentation
  • Track absence, holidays, and other key HR metrics for reporting and management insight
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement and operational efficiency

About You

  • CIPD or relevant qualification, or a degree in HR or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in an HR or people assistant role, ideally within a fast-paced organisation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and approachable manner
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Confident in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and experienced with HR systems or databases
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
