Senior DevOps Engineer

MCS Group are working with a global organisation seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join its research and development division. This team bridges software engineering and cloud operations, driving continuous delivery and ensuring the reliability and security of large-scale cloud-based platforms. In this role, you'll take ownership of cloud security, automation, and deployment optimisation, helping to shape best practices for secure, scalable, and efficient cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance cloud security, automation, and monitoring processes.
• Advise on cloud architecture, cost optimisation, and secure solution design.
• Manage and respond to operational and security incidents effectively.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for scalable, compliant environments.
• Continuously improve automation, reporting, and governance practices.
• Ensure all cloud services meet security and operational readiness standards.
• Evaluate and adopt new tools to strengthen observability and performance.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.

The Ideal Person

• Proficient in cloud infrastructure development using IaC tools
• Hands-on experience with Azure.
• Strong background in software development, ideally with C# / .NET.
• Skilled in scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Node.js.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and operational best practices.
• Strong analytical mindset, communication skills, and attention to detail.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of managing tasks independently.

Salary - £60,000-65,000, with excellent benefits package
