Software Development Technical Lead

MCS Group is proud to be working with a global business with a strong presence in Dublin as they seek a Development Team Technical Lead to establish and guide a software development function focused on scalable data platforms. This role combines hands-on technical architecture with team leadership, ensuring robust design, development, and delivery of high-quality data solutions.

You'll define the technical direction, drive architectural decisions, and mentor a small, collaborative team of developers. A strong background in Python (including Pandas and PySpark) is essential, along with deep experience in data systems architecture, AWS, and modern development practices (Agile, CI/CD, OOP).

12 month daily rate contract opportunity with strong opportunity to extend beyond that.

The Job

• Define and implement technical strategy and architectural patterns for a new data platform.
• Lead and mentor a distributed development team.
• Design and optimise scalable data pipelines and data models.
• Ensure code quality, security, and maintainability through best practices.
• Work closely with business and engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions.

The Person

• Extensive experience leading software development teams.
• Extensive experience in software design and architecture.
• Expertise in Python with strong experience in Pandas and PySpark.
• Proven experience with AWS tools (Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, etc.).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, Agile development, and test automation.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field; AWS Associate certifications strongly preferred.
