Lead Software Engineer

MCS Group is working exclusively with a new entrant to Northern Ireland in their search for a Lead Software Engineer with experience of utilising AI tools in their day-to-day. This will be a fully-remote, senior engineering role within a high-growth MedTech organisation.

What you'll do

• Take ideas and turn them into working, production-ready systems
• Improve and evolve existing platforms without unnecessary rewrites
• Build APIs, services, and (where needed) clean, usable frontends
• Move systems toward modern, cloud-native ways of working
• Use AI tools to speed up delivery and focus on what really matters
• Test ideas quickly through prototypes, then scale what works

What we're looking for

• Strong experience building and owning software in production
• Comfortable across backend, systems, and some frontend when needed
• Solid understanding of modern cloud and delivery practices
• Able to make sensible trade-offs and keep things pragmatic
• You'll be already using AI tools to enhance how you build software (you'll be tinkering and utilising the likes of Cursor, Claude or Co-Pilot to go-faster and work more efficiently in your role already)
